Work and Wear Online

What is appropriate to wear to work with children?

I'm going to be starting a job soon working with preschool children. I like to dress cute and fashionably, but I don't feel comfortable wearing anything that could in any way be considered sexy. Does anyone have any suggestions for cute things I could wear to work that are not sexy? Do you think I am being too conservative? I know looking cute shouldn't be my main focus, but sometimes I am going to be going right from work to one of my night classes (grad school) and I want to be able to look attractive at class.

  1. Long sleeve button up shirt, not tOO tight, and black casual pants.
  2. jeans cute flats or heels and a shirt/jacket or whatever that doesnt show too much chest
  3. Khaki or dress pants (you will do a lot of sitting down and chasing), comfortably flats and a dress shirt that is more casual.
  4. i don't know what your talking about lady!
  5. just wear like a dress up yo your knees nothing shorter..and make it look like cute or like work kind of dress with like buttons on it lol colorful buttons if you're going for the colorful kinds of dress
  6. Don't wear anything that the kids (and parents) can look up or down into. That should take care of it. Save the low cut, clingy, short clothes for after work.
  7. Jeans and a long top to cover the back of your jeans because you are going to be bending down a lot!
  8. Jeans and a t-shirt or a long skirt. Don't wear anything that would show skin if you raised your arms. Don't wear anything that is too low cut. Don't wear a dress that is too short.
  9. Dress as though you were going to see your Grandma or going to a job interview.
  10. try dressing up as barney buy costumes for them try to be a mascot
  11. Just wear regular cloths.
  12. a t-shirt with like something that shows fun jeans sandals and maybe a hat
  13. capris, khakis, cardigans it seems like common sense; don't show your crack or cleavage
  14. dresses to ur knees and a small sweater that matches black dress up pants goes with everything
  15. let me think CLOTHES
  16. Wear the clothes that you don't mind getting poo and vomit and spaghetti-o's on.
  17. well its smart not to look like a w h ore , eitherwise you will get in affairs with parents and get in trouble. you can never be too conservative when you are around children, and if you are , dear, going to be a teacher for such, you truely should know this already, or you shall find much trouble in the coming years ahead. What is truely important, the kids learning to you? or if you look good? If it s the second, then you are being Ego, and that which you are , you teach. Always know this, darlin, for it will save you, unless you become blind to it. also, are you a good lookin woman teacher? i ve always wanted to date a teacher.
  18. SCRUBS WOULD BE GREAT AND THEY EVEN HAVE SOME WITH CHILDISH PICTURES ON THEM FOR THE NURSES TO USE IN THE PEDIATRIC DEPARTMENT.
  19. actually get past cute and sexy working with kids youll get messy invest in some good scrubs not so cute maybe but they can be they have came out with some really cute styles for scrubs these days
  20. Jeans and cute t shirts are fine. Just don't go with a half-shirt on or anything. No, you aren't being too conservative. It's thoughtful of you to think like that about kids. Most people don't care what they wear, do, or say in front of our little ones. Kudos!
  21. I applaud your modest notion. I have worked with children for years...and the best thing in my closet for such an active job- dress capris and pants. Cute tops are everywhere...stock up! (Dresses are fun and flirty, but preschoolers are curious and mischevious...keep that in mind to save yourself from being the victim of Search-a-Teach!)
  22. If you'd wear it to get noticed by and impress a guy, it may be too sexy for the kids. No cleavage tops or skin tight pants. No bra straps showing or mini skirts. Dress comfortable and smart.
  23. a sleeved shirt of a darker shade (kids r full of surprises), dark pants and flats. secure ur hair into a cute bun and wear a BIG smile and BIG patience. coz u r gonna need them
  24. black, grey, white, or khaki slacks and a button up shirt or sweater. and accesorize. that way you can look cute without looking old. good luck! and i dont think you are being to conservatie. the kids are going to look up to you and its great that you think you should dress apropriatly.
  25. You are not being too conservative, everyone who works with children should think like you...!!!! Just don't show any cleavage and don't wear clothes too tight.

  27. No, you're not being too conservative. BRAVO to you for considering the minds and eyes of the sweet little children you'll be caring for. I am impressed with you! No loose hanging or showing bra straps. No Thong underwear peeking out off too low-rise pants. No Miniskirts, no Daisy Duke's. For working in a preschool, your best bet is to go with practical comfort. A nice T-Shirt or Polo styled shirt with shorts - like khaki, denim, etc. - not tight, not too short - and a good pair of tennis shoes will be PERFECT. You'll be comfortable and look nice too. Have fun in your new job. It will be busy, and often hectic for sure - but children are so much fun! You'll do great, I can tell by the thought you're putting into this now.
  28. simple colored shirt and jeans (non holey, no messages with fit any dress code
  29. I suggest that you wear comfortable, decent clothes [and shoes!]. It's alright to be fashionable, just not clothes that reveal your body. Low high heeled shoes, with a long skirt and a nice blouse would be nice. You can also wear some jeans and a good looking top. Or slacks, and layered tops, o [a tank top with an unbuttoned shirt on top, of it would look cute too. Basically, if it's not sticking to your body, or revealing yourself, it's alright to wear.
  30. Well, preschoolers probably won't consider a lot of things to be sexy that most adult men would...like the way your butt looks in a certain pair of jeans. So, take that into considseration. I think that major thing you should be concerned about is how much skin you're showing. I would say generally no cleavage, or tummy. You can definitely stay trendy, cute and even sexy as long as you're not showing too much. You can look sexy in a v-neck tee and it would still be appropriate. You definitely do not have to look frumpy for the kiddies. Have you asked your boss about a dress code?
  31. your going to be using paint, glue and all kinds of other stuff small kids can get very messy.. Wear durable clothes like they do Jeans and t shirts with cute sayings (age appropriate)Knee length shorts for hot weather and good tennis shoes .The kids don't care if you look cute. They just want to play and learn. Watch your necklaces they can be grabbed or caught in little hands easily when your bending down to help a small one.
  32. I would make sure that is is something comfortable because you will be moving and running around a lot. There is no need to compromise style for your work but just make sure that it is not too low cut or revealing. I would say Capri's, nice shirts and flats would be best for this type of work. Also, they might have causal Friday so how about some nice designer jeans?
  33. No... you can never be too conservative around kids. You want to be taken seriously by the kids, their parents, and your coworkers. Let me tell you if you bend over and your thong sticks out once you are the talk of the break room. It hasn't happened to me, but I remember when I was teaching how ruthless other teachers can be (especially when they are old and miserable and the fresh new happy young teachers come in). I would say trouser pants and a button down blouse are good. Some preschools and kindergarten settings are more laid back and jeans and a sweater are appropriate. I would say no super low rise (low rise is ok), no thongs, and no cleavage. Make sure skirts are below the knee and shoes should be flats or no more than a three inch heel. A lot of my lower cut tops I would wear a tank top underneath to desexifye them...lol. Congrats and good luck! Boy am I glad I wear scrubs to work now!
  34. You can wear almost anything! Lay off the low V cuts and mini skirts. Heels are most definitely O.K., jeans, and almost any top! http://www.forever21.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=FOREVER21&category%5Fname=Dressy+Tops&product%5Fid=2029410333&Page=all that kind of top is super stylish and perfect for your job http://www.forever21.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=FOREVER21&category%5Fname=Pants&product%5Fid=2035847304&Page=all go for those kind of pants http://www.forever21.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=FOREVER21&category%5Fname=Skirts&product%5Fid=2039889132&Page=all pencil skirts are awesome and perfectly appropriate http://www.forever21.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=FOREVER21&category%5Fname=Dresses&product%5Fid=2039294313&Page=all knit dresses are A O.K. http://www.forever21.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=FOREVER21&category%5Fname=shoes&product%5Fid=2038505994&Page=all flats are conservative and fashionable http://www.forever21.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=FOREVER21&category%5Fname=Denim&product%5Fid=2037313647&Page=all these aren't so good http://www.forever21.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=FOREVER21&category%5Fname=Denim&product%5Fid=2040196410&Page=all jeans are very appropriate with a cool sweater These should give you ideas! ;)
  35. i know i wouldn't be comfortable dropping my kids off with someone with their boobs hanging out. think role model / non-husband stealer :) im assming you're relatively young? one style i've seen alot lately is the babydoll shirts.very cute and fashionably. but not all slutty. or you could go boho, there are some very cute mid length skirts - think sienna miller. or mary-kate for the first idea.
  36. you should wear capris and a cute shirt but dont ruene it cause the kids but worry you will look cute and the kids will love you and have a great time with tikes and have fun!!!!!!!!!
