Is it acceptable to wear nice socks with closed-toed heels and slacks to work in an office?

I'd like to get some heels for work, but I can't handle wearing pantyhose. Would it be ok to wear socks instead when I'm wearing slacks? I'm supposed to dress pretty professionally. Thanks!

1. Yes, as long as you cannot see the socks anywhere, just get some nice black or grey trouser socks.

3. Why don't your try thigh high stockings, even knee hi nylons? Socks don't cut it with heels.
4. yes and it will be so comfy..i have different trouser socks and then funny little socks with hearts, butterflies etc on them. I hate pantyhose...itches me like crazy...

8. NICE socks yes... and ONLY if they match your shoes and your outfit! NO white socks period :) Trouser socks are great! but be careful and make sure that the socks fit snugly so they dont bunch up on the top of your foot... That is so awful! But yes, you can dress professionally and wear NICE socks with heels and slacks. Pantyhose are the devil! :)

11. you can not wear socks whatsoever with heels.. unless you are over 38... this is not acceptable...unless you simply dont care about what you look like at the office
12. I can't stand wearing pantyhose either, but I love wearing stockings and Boy shorts. I work in a professional office too, and socks are are pretty nasty looking, they make you look like Ellen. Stockings are a great option, they have none of the nasty drawbacks of pantyhose, like the waist band and that awful panty covering your butt. They are thinner and more sheer and quite sexy to wear, plus they are very comfortable and don't itch like pantyhose. I wear them with heels under dress pants and with skirts and they work out equally well.
13. Not really, I can't handle pantyhose all day either, but stockings (thigh highs) are great. They are silkier on my legs than pantyhose, and don't have that horrible panty top and waist band. They are very comfortable under pants and jeans too, almost like having rayon pant liners to make the pant legs slide better, and they look great with heels whether with a skirt, dress pants or jeans.
14. I think it looks tacky. Just wear thigh highs or stockings. I wear stockings and heels to work every day, and in winter a lot with dress pants, and stockings are very comfy, without all the pantyhose top stuff which bothers me to no end. I even wear stockings under jeans in winte, and they fit better too, because they never bind at the knee because the nylon stockings act as a pant liner.

16. I cant stand wearing sox or hose myself.Can you wear mules and go without hose?
